Gadkari lays foundation for roads, fisheries jetty in coastal K'taka

Mangaluru: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday, March 5 laid the foundation stone for three road projects and a fisheries jetty in coastal Karnataka by videoconference by videoconference at Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Hall New Mangalore Port Panambur here.

The road projects, undertaken under the Bharatmala programme includes the widening of the national highway between Mangaluru in Dakshina Kannada district and Karkala in Udupi district into a four-lane road. Apart from this Gadkari also laid the foundation stone for fisheries jetty at Kulai to be built at a cost of Rs 193 crore under the Sagarmala programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Nitin Gadkari said that the fisheries jetty will benefit the fisherfolk and will help increase their income.

Further he said that MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has brought to his notice, the inconvenience suffered by local people owing to delay in completion of Thokkottu and Pumpwell flyovers and added that he has directed the NHAI officials to execute the projects on time.
