Geethartha Chinthane-21: Need for purity in message of Sakshiprajne

Among all the subjects in the world, none has been scrutinized as much as Dharma. Sometimes, decisions need to be made quickly, without sufficient time. In such situations, “Sakshiprajne” (conscience) comes to the rescue. To receive a clear message from the conscience, it must be kept pure. If not, it will not provide the correct guidance. This can be compared to a GPS. Even if a vehicle is equipped with a GPS, if one does not follow the instructions, the GPS will eventually stop providing directions.

The messages from Sakshiprajne must be consistently followed. Like a GPS, it needs to be charged and kept active. Lord Krishna suggests relying on conscience for the ultimate conclusion of Dharma. For instance, when it was said, “ Ashwathama Hatah Kunjarah“, the falsehood was considered Dharma. Had this lie not been told, Arjuna might have been killed, leading to a grave error. Dharma applies only to the righteous (Dharmika), not to the unrighteous (Adharmika).

Questioning whether it is right for the police to take a thief away in an inhumane manner at night is also incorrect. Once someone is determined to be a thief, or even if there is suspicion, they can be taken away at any time. There is no need to apply Dharmika rules to matters involving those who oppose Dharma (Dharma Virodhi).
