Gold seized at MIA

Bajpe: Gold concealed in the inner garments worn by a passenger was seized by the custom officials at the Mangaluru International Airport on Saturday, June 8.

The passenger attempting to smuggle the precious metal had arrived from Dubai by Air India Express flight IX814. A total of 647 grams of 24 carat gold in power and paste form was confiscated from him. The value of the seized noble element is around Rs 21.48 lakh.

The passenger has been arrested and produced before the court.
