Mangaluru: State government is planning to provide SSLC equivalent certificate to madrasas, said, Minister for handloom, textiles and minority welfare Shrimant Balasaheb Patil
Speaking to the reporters, Patil said, ” State government has planned to bring in a syllabus and provide certificates equivalent to SSLC to madrasas. This will help them in finding jobs. Also, we will hold meetings with experts and other religious institutions. Subjects such as physics, mathematics can be included”
“Central government has received a proposal from the minorities department requesting for an ITI institute in every district which will teach job-oriented courses. Also, proposals have been sent requesting for polytechnic college in each of the administrative divisions of the state,” he added
Talking about the new textile policy, Patil said, “The new policy will be formulated to revive the textile sector and it will allow 20% to 40% of subsidies for the sector”
Further talking about scholarships to minorities, he said,” Earlier, Rs 250 crore was allocated in the budget for this purpose. But after lockdown 38% budget has been deducted and now Rs 90 crore has been allocated. Scholarship to 3.5 lac students worth Rs 78 crore has been distributed and over 4.5 lac applications have been received”
“We will soon discuss the issue with the Chief Minister and urge to not deduct the budget for this purpose,” he added
