Similar to the union government employees, the state government ordered the announcement of holiday for state government employees on 4th Saturday. But since schools function on the 4th Saturday, this facility is not applicable to the teachers. Even then, similar to the cut-off implemented on others, the 5 CL have been cut-off from the 15CL available for the teachers yearly. Because of this move, more than 2 lakh primary-high school teachers and I lakh PU lecturers as well as the lecturers of degree colleges will be incurring a loss of holidays.

“Now, even though the teachers do not have holiday on 2nd and 4th Saturday, their CL have been reduced to 10. Therefore the CLs must be continued as per earlier,” informs Dr Ramakrishna Shirur, State Vice President, Karnataka State High School Teachers Association

“If the government fails to respond to our demands, the teachers will protest,” informed Karnataka State High School Teachers Association State President H K Manjunath to ‘Udayavani’.
