On September 4 after the arrest of senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar, the bus was burnt by protesters at Chunchi Colony near Kanakapura.

A picture of a teary-eyed burnt bus stated: “Serving you for decades… Wish to serve you decades more… Have mercy. I belong to you and carry lakhs of passengers every day. You need to protect me, Instead, you stone me, burn me…For what fault of mine??”

Another poster reads: “Respect and values your own property. Destruction is your own loss”.

Due to strikes and bundh as many as 244 buses were damaged and incurred a loss of Rs 28.5 lakh since 2016-17.

Speaking on the issue a senior KSRTC official said, “We wanted to showcase the after-effects of vandalism. We are incurring a huge loss due to damages as well as cancellation of services. Common passengers travelling on these buses are the worst hit.”

“Destroying buses will not solve any problems,” he added.

It may be recalled that recently the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation held a mourning procession of buses damaged in the stone-pelting incidents to create awareness.
