District Superintendent Of Police Srinivas Gowda carried out a special drive against driving under influence of alcohol in the city and in past three days have booked over 200 drunken driving cases, out of which 100 cases were registered on Saturday only.
Driving under the influence of alcohol is very dangerous to not only the person driving but to others also, therefor the city police have undertaken this initiative to reduce the accident rate in the city.
Speaking in the regard Srinivas Gowda requested the people not to drive under the influence of alcohol.

After the imposition of the new amendment in the Motor Vehicle Act, the charges for traffic violations have been increased. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari announced a lengthy revision list of charges and fines in the Lok Sabha proceedings this year. The new fines range from Rs 10,000 for not having PUC to Rs 5,000 for being without a driving license. The offence of drunken driving and not having the registration certificate, on the other hand, has been charged with Rs 10,000 each.
