Below we shall bust few such health myths.

1) Organic food doesn’t contain pesticides

No farmer can guarantee that their products won’t contain any pesticides. Most farmers use organic pesticides which can be more toxic than their synthetic counterparts and if not wind and water can contaminate organic foods with pesticides.

2) Sugar causes hyperactivity in children

There is no scientific proof that shows a relationship between sugar consumption and hyperactivity. Despite this, sugar consumption and weight gain in children is a serious concern.

3) The five-second rule

Picking up dropped food within five seconds will not protect it from germs as some bacteria jump immediately onto food.

4) Vaccines weaken your immune system

Vaccines do not weaken your immune system and nor do kids who have been vaccinated are at greater risk of contracting infections.

5) You should drink eight glasses of water daily

There is no scientific proof to the above statement. Research suggests that women should drink 2.7 litres of water and men should drink 3.7 litres.
