Reacting to the violence in Hubballi, former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy said that divisive forces are using religion to spark tension among communities for their own political gains.

In a series of tweets the JDS leader accused BJP and Congress of adopting divide and rule policy of the British ahead of the assembly polls in the state. He urged people to be cautious of these parties.

“The silence of social media warriors on rising unemployment, price rise and inflation has made the lives of people miserable. The silence of social media warriors is dangerous. Besides, the invisible hand of national parties, their silent backing is dangerous,” he tweeted.

Recalling the DJ Halli violence, where a provocative message posted by a youth on prophet led to arson and residence of a MLA and a police station being set on fire, HDK said that people have not learning from past experience.

He further lauded the Hubballi police for controlling the law and order and preventing a DJ Halli kind of situation here.
