Speaking after inaugurating the renovated South Western Railway’s Dharwad station on Tuesday, Vaishnaw said that union minister Pralhad Joshi has requested that the Hubli-Nizamuddin train be named after Pandit Sawai Gandharva. The request is being considered seriously, he said.
The minister also assured that the demand for Vande Bharat train between Dharwad to Bengaluru will be fulfilled at the earliest. The work for rail electrification is under progress on the Dharwad-Bengaluru route. About 70 percent of the work has been completed. The rest will be completed by February 2023. Once this work completes, steps will be taken to run the Dharwad-Bengaluru Vande Bharat train, he added.
The minister also stated that the decision on increasing train service to Varanasi to twice a week will be taken after reviewing the timings of railway traffic.
