I am not Deputy CM material: Umesh Katti

Bengaluru: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Umesh Katti stirred a row on Saturday by saying that he will become Chief Minister of the state after the current CM BS Yediyurappa’s tenure ends.

Addressing presspersons here Umesh mocking a reporter who asked why he was not chosen to be the Dy.CM of the state said “I am not Deputy CM material. I am going to be the CM of the state after BS Yediyurappa’s term gets over.”

He further added, “People of the state want me to be the CM of the state. With their blessings, I will become the CM after BSY. Till then I am part of the party and will work for the cause of the party.”

“Yediyurappa is my political guru and Deputy CM Laxman Savadi is a very good friend of mine. Everybody should get the opportunity at positions, likewise even I will get my opportunity to be the CM of the state,” six-time MLA added.

It may be recalled that Umesh Katti had demanded statehood for North Karnataka on October 18. This statement of the MLA came as a response to the statements made by the Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa while campaigning for the BJP in Maharashtra.
