ICAI Bengaluru Branch gets first lady Chairperson

Bengaluru: Chartered Accountant Geetha AB has been elected as the Chairperson of the Bengaluru branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for 2017-18 year, thus becoming the first lady of a professional body. Geetha is a practising Chartered Accountant with over 13 years of professional experience specialised in direct taxation and auditing.

Her contributions to the CA professional community as Secretary, Treasurer and CA Students’ Head have been noteworthy. The Bengaluru branch caters to the needs of nearly 13,500 CAs and 30,000 students on its rolls. Geetha has also been an active member of Karnataka State Chartered Accountants Association and AWAKE, women entrepreneurs association of Karnataka.

The other office Bearers of Bangalore Branch of SIRC of ICAI are CA. Shravan Guduthur as Vice-Chairman, CA Shivaram Shankar Bhat-  Secretary, CA Raveendra S Kore – Treasurer, CA. Bhojaraj T Shetty has been nominated – Chairman of SICASA of Bangalore Branch

The ICAI, a statutory body, has a Council composing of 40 members, 32 elected and the rest nominated by the Central Government. Recently, Nilesh Shivji Vikamsey was elected President and C.A Naveen N.G. Gupta as the Vice-President. Mumbai-based NIlesh has been a member of ICAI since 1985. Having gained deep insights into the profession as a fellow member of the ICAI with over 30 years of impeccable professional standing, he is widely commended and credited for his key role in contributing towards inclusive as well as exclusive growth of Indian accountancy profession.
