IIT Kanpur launches three new courses in cybersecurity to train “Cyber-Soldiers”

The Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur  has launched three new master’s programs in Cybersecurity in addition to a dedicated centre for cybersecurity.

According to DNA, The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) will offer the three new master’s programs – M Tech, MS by Research and BT-MT Dual Degree with a limited number of seats IIT Kanpur plans to gradually scale this up in size and scope.

The programs would start with a limited number of seats with plans to gradually scale up in size and scope.  Admissions for the courses will commence during the April-May 2021 cycle.

The MTech programme in Cyber Security will equip college students with abilities vital to achieve success in roles resembling VAPT (Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing) engineers, safety middle analysts, CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) engineers, cybersecurity device builders and different roles.

The MS by Research program is designed to train Cybersecurity researchers, Technology developers, Cybersecurity strategists, and top-level Cybersecurity policy designers.BT-MT dual degree will help students to specialize in Cybersecurity.

The initiative for launching the three courses in Cybersecurity was taken by Prof. Manindra Agrawal and Prof. Sandeep K. Shukla from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
