District Superintendent of Police Dr. K. Arun confirmed that Jahangir, who was working as a laborer in Moodbidri, was apprehended near Santhekatte based on reliable information.
With this arrest, the total number of detained illegal Bangladeshi migrants has reached ten. On Friday, two more Bangladeshi laborers working in Mangaluru were taken into custody by Padubidri police for questioning. It is reported that these two individuals have been handed over to the Malpe police for further investigation.
During interrogation, it was revealed that a person from Ullal helped the detainees obtain Aadhaar cards. The police are now on the lookout for this individual. However, no official confirmation has been provided by the authorities yet.

On October 10, Manik was detained by immigration officers at the airport after they grew suspicious during a routine passport and document check. Upon investigation, it was revealed that he was a Bangladeshi national. A case was registered at the Bajpe Police Station, and Manik was taken into police custody for a week. Following the end of his remand period on Friday, the police presented him in court.
Despite extensive questioning, no significant new information was obtained from Mohammad Manik. He claimed that he did not know of any other illegal Bangladeshi residents within the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate or Udupi district jurisdiction, apart from those already in custody. The police believe that further details may emerge once they apprehend Parvez, an Udupi resident who allegedly helped Manik obtain a passport. Parvez is currently abroad, and efforts are underway to bring him into custody, according to police sources.
Manik, a resident of Manikchowk in Rajshahi district, Bangladesh, reportedly crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border at Lalgoal in 2017, entering India via West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. From there, he traveled through Shelda-Howrah-Chennai to reach Mangaluru, where he worked in Moodbidri for a while before moving to Udupi district.
