The government has given the Special Investigation Team (SIT) one more year to complete the investigation into the export of illegal iron ore from various ports in the state. The government has also promised to release necessary funds and human resources to help complete the investigation.
A Cabinet note recalled that from the year 2006 to 2011, over 2,04,37,786 metric tonnes of iron ore was dispatched to Mangalore port from mining blocks in Chitradurga, Hospete, Bellari, and Tumakuru. And 76 companies, firms and individuals exported it from the port.
The cabinet discussed the irregularity of the CBI while investigating the illegal export of iron ore from the state’s ports. It is said that CBI had closed the investigation without looking into their advantage.
