Illegal transport of silver ornaments; man arrested

Uppala: The excise department officials arrested a person who was transporting 12 kg of silver ornaments without proper documentation in a bus at Vamanjoor checkpost on Tuesday Oct 8.

The accused is identified as Keshava (45), a resident of Uppinangady in Karnataka. He has revealed that he was taking the silver ornaments to a jewellery at store located in Kumble. The silver ornaments have been handed over to sales tax officials.

The silver ornaments were seized from a KSRTC bus which was travelling from Mangaluru towards Kasaragod in Kerala.
