Hubballi:  Days after Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwar stressed on the need for adoption of new technologies in the police department to curb crimes, it is learnt that the minister has asked DG-IGP Neelamani Raju to look into the model adopted by the Hubballi-Dharwad police and come out with a report.

Parameshwar, during a recent visit to the twin cities, was so struck by the use of hi-tech night vision cameras, installed at every entry and exit point and more importantly its role in deterring crimes that he even sought details on the implementation of the system from the officials later. If sources are to be believed Parameshwara is keen on extending this model to the entire state.

Meanwhile, the same sources have revealed that Neelamani is also impressed with the model and its success rate.

Reportedly the process of installing the high-definition night vision cameras to maintain a vigil on entry and exit points of the twin cities had begun when Pandurang Rane was serving as the police commissioner but gained momentum after incumbent commissioner M N Nagaraj took charge. Over 250 cameras have been installed in the twin cities.
