Rai said that directions have been issued to withdraw power supply to units who continue polluting waters.

The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has been taking strict action by serving notices on them, he added.

The minister said KSPCB had in 2007 permitted these industrial units to operate by collecting five times the cost of registration as fine. But later a writ petition was filed in the Karnataka High Court, challenging the KSPCB’s move. Hence, the Board has decided to withdraw the permission.
