Inspector’s ‘walkie-talkie’ stolen during ‘Bharat Bandh’ protests

Bengaluru: A police inspector’s radio communication ‘walkie-talkie’ was allegedly stolen during the ‘Bharat Bandh’ protests held in the city a few days earlier. SJ Park Police Station Inspector M Sivakumar has registered a complaint at his own station in this regard.

Responding to the call of Bharat Bandh, thousands of activists of various organizations had gathered in front of the town hall to protest against the Centre’s farm laws on September 27. Inspector Sivakumar, who was on duty, had been assigned to manage the crowds at the site.

Between 11 AM and noon, the protesters tried to block the road and affect the traffic movement.

The complaint says that Sivakumar had taken actions to disperse the agitators and clear the roadblock. In the ensuing chaos, the walkie-talkie (Serial number 817 TVK 2355) clipped to the officer’s trouser’s belt had fallen off without the notice of the inspector.

The police officer realized the device was missing when he tried to contact the control room later. Since the device wasn’t found even after a thorough search of the surrounding areas, the complaint alleges it to be stolen by an unknown person with mal-intent.
