IT Dept Asks Karnataka Minister to Appear for Questioning for Second Time

Bengaluru: Income tax department has served summonses to Karnataka state Energy Minister, Congress leader DK Shivakumar and his close relatives and associates to appear for questioning for second time after last week’s three daylong raid on the residences, offices of the minister, his close associates and relatives in Bengaluru and other parts of the state.

According to the summonses served on Wednesday to DK Shivakumar, his brother DK Suresh, his close associate, Bengaluru based Astrologer Dwarakanath and others, the IT department has asked them to appear for an interogation on August 10 in Bengaluru. 

IT department reportedly blocked bank accounts of the minister, his close relatives including his wife, children and associates to check the transaction details. As many as 27 current, savings bank accounts of the minister have been blocked by IT officials for further investigation, sources said.

Earlier, the minister appeared for an interrogation at regional IT office located in the state capital on Monday. Meanwhile, IT department hasn’t yet made any official statement on its last week’s raid on the minister and his close associates.
