The presently arrested accused are identified as Rameshbhai Sisodia (32) and Sunil alias Sandeep (27) from Dahod district, Gujarat, Jameel alias Chacha (60) from Boondi district, Rajasthan. The police have recovered 185.59 grams of gold ornaments valued at Rs 7.05 lakh and 3,972 grams silver ornaments worth Rs 2.26 lakh and seized a truck worth Rs 23 lakh. The total worth of items seized is estimated to be around Rs 32.31 lakh. It may be noted that ornaments worth about Rs 27 lakh had been stolen from the store.
Incident synopsis
The thieves had been carried out the robbery during the intervening night between August 15 and 16 by opening the shutters of the jewellery store by using gas cutter. They had managed to make off with 650.69 grams of gold ornaments and seven kg silver ornaments totally worth about Rs 27 lakh. The theft was realized during the early hours of August 16. Later three teams were created by DK DSP to probe the case.

Initially, the cops got the lead about the vehicle used for the theft based on which they investigated the case and located the culprits. The truck was taken into seized from Katwara in Dahod, Gujarat.
Acting under the guidance of district superintendent of police, Laxmi Prasad and under the directions of deputy superintendent of police, Dinakar Shetty and assistant superintendent of police, Dr /vikram Amate, the police team comprising of Puttur rural circle inspector, Nagesh Kadri, Uppinangady sub-inspector, Nandakumar M M, Puttur town station assistant sub-inspector, Chidanand Rai and Praveen Devadiga of district crime intelligence bureau succeeded in catching hold of the accused.
Notorious gang
According to the police, this is a notorious gang of criminals, which used to visit different states on other work and planned thefts when returning. The thieves were based of Raliyati in Gujarat and Divoli area in Rajasthan.
Apparently, the lorry drive Bhagwan Singh, had plotted the theft when coming to Bengaluru on hire and carried out the plan with assistance from Sunil, Jameel and five others before fleeing.
