Judicial inquiry into Mangaluru police firing begins

Mangaluru: G Jagadeesha, the Deputy Commissioner & District Magistrate of Udupi district has started his investigation into the police firing that happened during the anti-CAA protest in Mangaluru n  December 19. On Monday he visited the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sindhu B Rupesh at her office. After the meeting, he visited the State Bank compound, city bus stand and Nellikai Road. Two persons had died in police firing here while protesting the Citizenship Amendment Act. The protest had turned violent leading to the police firing. Following that the state government ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incidents and appointed G Jagadeesha as the chief investigating officer.
