For over a decade, the activists have been advocating peacefully for justice in the tragic case. Mahesh Shetty Timarodi voiced concerns over the state of humanity and law in the country, expressing deep dismay at the apparent impunity of those responsible for Sowjanya’s heinous crime.
The protesters assert the urgent need for the case to be re-investigated promptly. This call for renewed attention to the case comes in direct response to Home Minister Parameshwar’s statement that the Sowjanya case has concluded. The activists are prepared to escalate their protests, vowing to approach the doorsteps of those in positions of authority to make their voices heard.
Kusumavathi, Sowjanya’s mother, shared her family’s decade-long struggle for justice, expressing a renewed sense of hope as more individuals join their cause. Prasanna Ravi, the convener of the Sowjanya Horata Samiti, urged politicians from all parties to unite and pressure the Chief Minister, Prime Minister, Home Minister, and the President to address the issue seriously. He further suggested the possibility of boycotting elections if justice continues to be elusive.
