K-Pop Fans hijack ‘White Lives Matter’ hashtag on Twitter

For the past few days #Black Lives Matter has been trending on social media following the death of a 46-year-old George Floyd. In order to counter the trend, Americans started another trend, #WhiteLivesMatter, to show that all human lives matter

Now, fans of Korean popular music, widely known as K-pop stans, have spammed the Twitter hashtag “White Lives Matter” with fancams to block out the racist posts.


K-pop fan groups of BTS, MONSTA X, and BLACKPINK made a proud display of their overwhelming social media presence to obscure the ‘White Lives Matter’ and ‘Blue Lives Matter’ hashtags

It is said that most of the posts contained an anti-racist message alongside a video of their favorite K-pop stars

Although at first twitterati were confused by K-pop videos appearing in the #Whitelivesmatter hashtag, soon many understood that it was spammed and the trend became a huge hit.
