Kabini dam to be created on KRS lines

Mysuru: It is said that 'Kabini supply or dam' situated in near Saraguru in HD Kote Taluk, Mysuru, which irrigates more than one lakh acres of land set to be redone just like KRS in order to attract more tourists. 

The construction of Kabini dam was begun in 1959 and wad completed in the year 1974. The dam gives water to in excess of one lakh acres of land including 7400 acre of land in HD Kote taluk, 17,000 acre of land in Nanjangud Taluk, 30,000 acre of land in T Narasipur Taluk, all in Mysuru region and in Chamarajanagar area 16,000 acre of land for Yallandur Taluk, 36,200 acre of land in Kollegal taluk and 3400 acre of land in Chamarajangaar taluk. 

MLA from Karnataka Anil Kumar, son of former MLA Chikkamadhu stated, "As of now the evaluations with respect to development of dam including setting of garden on the lines of Brindavan Garden is in approval stage. Aside from this, the bridge before the reservoir which submerges whenever water is released from the dam will be raised soon." 

"State government is resolved to help tourism industry in the state. The Karnataka Tourism Policy 2015-20, stresses on improving hospitality services and standards,  promoting innovative developments and rejuvenation of older tourist attractions, with the point of offering tourists the experience that will equivalent with higher expectation. Different developmental works will come up in 50 acres of land at overall cost of Rs 50 crore," he said. 

Cauvery Neeravari Nigama Limited (CNNL) expects to create tourism related foundation under a suitable Public Private Partnership (PPP) system to boost the tourist footfalls in the kabini dam district. The proposed tourism related infrastructure is said to have different amenities/components which will attract tourists.

The benefits of proposed garden at the downstream of Kabini dam includes attracting large number of national and foreign travelers to the garden zone, direct and indirect revenues add to the local economy, tourism facilities increases job opportunities to the local people and hence improving their economic status. The undertaking will have tourism related offices which includes Multi cuisine restaurants, Entertainment Center, Children Play Area , Resorts with Ayurvedic Spa, Salon, indoor games, and so on, Amphitheater, Landscaped garden/stop, Lazy River, Bicycle track, Artificial Water body, Parking facilities and House Boat.
