Kadri temple road to get heritage street lights!

Mangaluru: The city corporation has come forward to install heritage street lamps along the Kadri Sri Manjunatha temple road with the aim to make it attractive. Scores of devotees come to visit Kadri tmple from various location in the country and in this backdrop, the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has done preparations for the installation of heritage street lights here in order to attract even more tourists and to increase the beauty of the road. Accordingly, the tender process will be called for in the first week of December and the aim is to finish the work by December month end.

Rs 30-40 lakh expenditure

Mangaluru is attracting tourists through its beaches and other tourist attractions. The local administration is thinking to attract even more tourists through more new plans. In this backdrop, the corporation has come forward to install heritage light along south India’s famous temple road. Therefore, the temple road will be beautified at the cost of Rs 30-40 lakh through the grant from the government’s 14th finance commission.

Heritage lights on Mysuru Palace road

Preparations have been done to install heritage street lamps similar to the ones installed along the Mysuru palace road which is one of the most important tourist destination in the state. The lights will be installed along the 680 meters length of the road in front of the temple. The heritage lamps will be different from other street lamps and will also have paintings on the poles. The lights will be similar to the light uses during the time of the kings and hence will give and attractive as well as a traditional sight to the road. The wiring of the poles will be done underground. These are being manufactured at Indore, informed officials.

Removal of concrete poles

The concrete electricity pols which have been installed along the temple road are being removed. Only the street lights will not suffice to make the road attractive and therefore, through various works under various grants, the MCC has undertaken road concretization work, footpath work and many other related works.

Heritage light to increase the beauty

“The traditional street lights are being installed with the aim to provide a traditional touch to the Kadri temple road. The tender process will be completed by the first week of December and by the end of the month the work on the installation of the new lights along the temple road will be completed,” said Preveen Chandrra Alva, President of City Planning and Development Standing Committee.
