Karkala: COVID-19 dead body mistakenly exchanged

Karkala: Family members of a COVID-19 dead returned the corpse after learning of the dead body being exchanged with another.

The incident occured at the Kariakallu crematory here on Monday.

The 44-year-old man employed at Bengaluru had come to his wife’s home in Karkala where he was infected with the virus.

He was admitted to a private hospital near Mangaluru where he died without responding to the treatment.

After realtives learnt and informed that the dead body brought to the crematory is not of their family member, it was taken back.

It was reported that the exchange occurred due to a mistake by a hopital staff.
