After the amendment of the APMC Act, the government is hoping to use the opportunity of establishing private markets to facilitate the economic empowerment of farmers.

The idea is set up private markets as companies by getting together rural youth farmers where they can sell their produce with government help.

The plan was recommended by the special team constituted to mitigate the COVID-19 induced economic crisis. The team has also prepared a blueprint for implementing the recommendations on an experimental basis in five cities, including Mangaluru, Bengaluru and Mysuru.
