Karnataka govt to bring bill to free temples from govt control: CM Bommai

Hubbali: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday said that the Karnataka government will bring in a law to “free Hindu temples” from government control.

The announcement was made at the BJP state executive meeting in Hubbali.

He said that the government will free temples from laws and rules that require the temple managements to seek permission from the govt to utilize their income for development. The bill will be introduced before the budget session of the assembly.

Once introduced, the government will have no control over the temples and there will only be some regulations for functioning of the temples.

Bommai also added not just the anti-conversion bill will not just become a law, but a task force would be set up to implement the law, and proper implementation will be undertaken.
