Mangaluru: Karnataka government has revised the order issued for  people returning from foreign countries. According to the new order, only those who test negative for coronavirus can board the aircraft at the airport of origin. This has proven to be a headache for the Kuwait returnees

Only a handful of flights were made available for Kuwait returnees under Vande Bharat mission. Earlier, the chartered flight to Mangaluru from Kuwait had been cancelled on June 27 and the government has now permitted the said chartered flight to fly to Mangaluru on July 4.

But, Kuwait returnees claim that there are no testing facilities available for returnees in Kuwait. Only for passengers travelling by Kuwait Airways, this system is available  but not for others. Kuwait Airways flights have a separate terminal and passengers of other flights do not have access to that terminal

However, an engineer from Kuwait has contacted MP Shobha Karandlaje and former MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, seeking exemption from the rule.
