Bengaluru: Karnataka high court on Tuesday rejected a plea from Karnataka State JD(S) President HD Kumaraswamy (HDK) inconnection with Janthakal Mining Scam. HDK in a plea urged the high court to exempt him from an investigation being carried out by a special investigation team (SIT) into his alleged role in the mining scam. Former chief minister was allegedly violated law to distribute license for Janthakal Mining Company in Karnataka during his tenure as chief minister of the state.

HDK in his petition stated that it is difficult to appear for questioning before SIT as he just undergone a major surgery last month and urged the court to exempt from questioning.

However, the advocate who represents SIT informed the court that HDK is actively participating in the election preparations for the next state assembly elections scheduled for early next year. Therefore the petitioner can’t justify his argument which demands exemption from questioning.
