Karnataka issues guidelines for Covid vaccine to children

Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has issued guidelines for Covid-19 jabs to the targeted populations including healthcare workers, frontline workers, children aged from 15 to 18, and those aged 60 and above with comorbidities, beginning from Jan. 3.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai advised district and joint Collectors, district medical and health officers and district immunization officers to ensure all the targeted population got the Covid-19 jab.

The Karnataka government has now issued guidelines for the Covid-19 vaccine to children.

With regard to Covid-19 vaccination for the children in the age group of 15-18, Covaxin will be given from January 3.

The children born in 2007 or before are eligible to take the jab and they can register on Cowin to have it from January 1.

Special awareness meetings will be held for parents before administering vaccination to children.

Mobile numbers of the students must be registered and in case if not available, they can register their parents’ mobile numbers.

In case, the parents don’t have a mobile, students must register the mobile number of the principal or headmaster.

Children must present school ID cards or Aadhar card needs during vaccination.

Children with sickness should be supervised by doctors in health centers.

Also, those who are not getting vaccinated at schools should be identified and vaccinated in nearby health centers.
