Karnataka: Liquor sales at lodges, bars and clubs from May 9

Bengaluru: State Excise Minister Nagesh has said that liquor can be sold in the State’s lodges, bars and clubs from May 9.

He added that liquor must be sold at its MRP price. If any shop sells it beyond that price then the license of that shop will be permanently cancelled.

He further stated that he is yet to check the Supreme Court’s order on online sales of liquor. Adding that the State government has already been discussing this issue and is open to it.

The minister claimed that the government is expecting an increase of Rs 2,500 crore in revenue from the Excise Department. Rs 22,500 crore of revenue has already been collected.
