Shiv Das Meena, Chief Secretary to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister met Karnataka State Chief Secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia on Saturday in Bengaluru and requested Karnataka to release 3 TMC water from its reservoirs immediately as Tamil Nadu was also under the grip of a drought.

Reacting to the request made by the Tamil Nadu government, government officials in Karnataka clarified that there was only 8.8 TMC water stored in reservoirs including KRS, Harangi, Kabini and Hemavathi. Karnataka itself required 3 TMC water every month for drinking and other purposes till the summer ended, they said.
