Karnataka State to have 49 New Taluks on January 1, 2017; Udupi District to Get 4 Taluks

Bengaluru: Karnataka State government has released an order stating the formation of new 49 taluks in the state. New four taluks in Udupi district including Brahmavar, Kapu, Byndoor, Hebri and remaining 45 taluks will come into existence from January 1, 2018. Accordingly, Dakshina Kannada district will have two new taluks, Kadaba and Moodbidri.

The state government released an order on Thursday on the formation of new taluks as announced in the last state budget by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. State revenue department has been asked to release necessary funds on periodical basis for the formation of the new taluks, taluk offices and many others.   No exact amount has been fixed by the state government to release the same for the formation of the taluks. With the formation of 49 taluks, the total number of taluks in Karnataka have reached 224 from previous 175 taluks.
