Bengaluru: Karnataka state government is very likely to raise the price of milk by Rs 2 from Rs 33 to Rs 35 in the state in an attempt to support the farmers amid prevailing drought conditions in Karnataka.  The new price is expected to come into force from April, 2017. Karnataka Animal Husbandry Department officials have also confirmed that the government is on its way to increase the milk price to support the farmers. For the time being, milk diaries in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are selling milk at Rs 40 per liter as a result, the commodity price will remain lower in Karnataka even if the milk price raised by Rs 2 per liter. A 2 Rupee increment in the commodity price could give at least Rs 1.50 to the farmers.
