Kasargod police seize bikes with fake number plates

Kasargod: The Kasargod police seized two Bullets affixed with fake number plates here on Monday.

As per the investigations, the bikes were reportedly stolen from Bantwal.

After finding out that the cops have some clue on the incident, the riders abandoned the vehicles and escaped. When cops telephoned the owner on the basis of the bike number, the latter said his bike of the same registration number was with him. It was then that the cops realised that the seized bikes had fake number plates.

Sources said that the police had received information that an inter-state gang of robbers was active int he district. The modus operandi of the gang is to change the registration numbers and sell the stolen automobiles to gullible customers in the open market. Police have intensified their inquiry after the latest findings.
