Koosalli waterfall is at its full splendor

Byndoor: With the start of the monsoon season, Koosalli waterfall comes to life and attempts to attract trekkers and waterfalls lovers towards its splendor. The attractive Koosalli waterfall is located near Shiroor in Kundapur taluk. Greenery as far as the eyes can see, droplets falling off from the waterfall and the numerous streams found along the route to the waterfalls mesmerize nature lovers. Where is the waterfall? Shiroor village is located at a distance of 80 km from Udupi. From here, one must travel eastwards for a distance of 8 km along the Todalli road. This is followed by a 4 km trek through the forest which will finally bring the enthusiast to the pristine waterfall. The roaring waterfall located amidst the Nirava forest and the choir of a variety of birds singing to their own tunes takes one into an ‘Avatar’ of its own. This waterfall is also known as Abbi waterfalls. Being a renowned tourist centre in the district, the waterfall is famous as ‘mini Jog’ waterfalls. Increased beauty Since a week, the area has received good rain due to which, the beauty here has only intensified. Koosalli Abbi waterfall which falls from the height of hundreds of feet, falls in two levels. The water flowing from the waterfall provides vital assistance to cultivation along its path and eventually becomes one with the Arabian Sea via Sankadagundi. Trekkers, be cautious! During the monsoon season it is not possible to go near the waterfall. The rocks which bear towards the waterfall are extremely slippery and hence dangerous. Tragedies have occurred here before and three lives have been lost. Since, college students come here in groups, precautions need to be taken. Warning signboards have been installed here on behalf of the Forest Department and JCI, asking visitors to be careful.
