The gunshot sound was heard around 3 a.m. Locals, who went to investigate the area in the morning, found the remains of an animal, including intestines, flesh, and feces, which strengthened suspicions that a wild bison had been hunted down. The wild bison has been a frequent sight in the region, even during the daytime, which has raised concerns among locals.
Forest officers, along with veterinary experts, have collected the animal remains for further examination and sent them to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis. Forest officials stated that more accurate information about the animal’s identity will be available once the medical examination is completed.
If the medical report confirms that a wild bison was indeed poached, locals have demanded strict legal action against those involved in the illegal hunting.
