As per a senior authority of the company, “Diesel cost has crossed over Rs 70 for each liter. Consistently, we spend around Rs 70 Lakh for the diesel. As a bulk buyer, the vehicle enterprise gets a concession of Rs 2 for every liter. All things considered, owing to the nonstop increase in the cost of all materials; it is hard to look after buses.”

“In addition, the organization needs to pay revised salary, dearness allowance(DA) is increased by 26 percent. Altogether, there is a burden of around Rs 100 Crore. In future, the yearly cost is said to be increased to Rs 370 Crore”, said an authority of KSRTC.

Authorities declined to give more information about the increase in travel fare. “This decision can’t be taken by only us. Once the Minister for Transport assumes responsibility, we will convey the issue to his notice. A year ago, the partnership endured Rs 177 Crore loss. To stop the present loss, prompt steps ought to be taken”, they said.

The KSRTC fare hike will be pertinent to North-West and North-East Karnataka Transport Corporation and BMTC will present a different proposition to the government.
