The railways has already started the Kisan train service to transport agricultural products. KSRTC planned its green bus initiative on similar lines.

Presently, trucks are mostly used for farm produce transportation. KSRTC claims that they have high fares and they will offer special concessionary fares for their green bus.

Already a few buses that have travelled for more than 10 lakh kilometres have been modified by KSRTC for this purpose.

The initiative also comes at a time when KSRTC’s revenue has been hit by a number of events, including the lockdown and the employees strike.
