K'taka COVID-19 update: 7040 new cases; 6680 discharges; 124 deaths on Aug 16

Bengaluru: 7,040 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the State during the 24-hour period between August 15 and 16.

6,680 people have recovered and 124 infected people died during this period across the State.

The total COVID-19 cases in the State now is 2,26,966 with 81,512 of them active and undergoing treatment and 692 amongst the active admitted in Intensive Care Units.

The State’s total COVID-19 deaths stand at 3,947.

Bengaluru Urban district again reported the highest number of cases with 2,131 in the same period.

Other districts with high cases include Mysuru (620), Belgaum (478), Bellari (381), Kalaburagi (285), Dharwad (268), Udupi (237), Yadagiri (236), Dakshina Kannada (229), Davanagere (218) and Koppal. (211), Raichur (183), Tumkur (169), Vijayapur (158), Bagalkot (156), Hassan (145), Bidar (119), Chikkaballapura (98), Mandya (91), Kolar (90), Bengaluru Rural (87), Gadag (79), Haveri (76), Chitradurga (71), Chikmagalur (69), Uttara Kannada (61), Chamarajanagar (36), Ramanagar (32), Kodagu (25) and Shimoga (1).
