K'taka: Former minister Viruprakashappa S Agadi passes away; CM offers condolences

Koppal: Former minister  Veerupakshappa Adhari (81)  died on Monday night due to age-related complications at his residence in Kalyannagar in Koppal, reports said.

Virupakshappa Agadi was elected as an MLA from the Koppal constituency in the 1985 Karnataka Assembly Elections. He also served as minister of medical education albeit only for a week in the former chief minister late SR Bommai’s cabinet.

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai expressed his condolences at the demise of Agadi. In a message of mourning, the Chief Minister said, “May the Lord grant peace to the souls of the dead and give their families and fans the power to bear this grief.”

Virupakshappa Agadi had an eventful political career. After 1985, he had lost the elections in 1989. Again he contested and lost assembly elections on a Lok Shakti Party ticket in 1998.

In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, he was elected as a Member of Parliament MP as a JD(S) candidate.

In his later political career, he joined BJP and played a significant role in securing a foothold for the party in Koppal.
