Bengaluru: The State government on Monday submitted an application in the High Court seeking permission to set up a retired HC judge-headed committee to decide on the private school fees issue.

The government had on January 2021 ordered that private schools can charge only 70 per cent of the fees of the academic year 2019-20 for the academic year 2020-21.

However, private school management associations vehemently opposed the order and even protested on the streets against it.

The government, reportedly, unable to settle the problem decided to have a court-monitored committee decide on the issue.

The High Court has adjourned the hearing on the proposal in order to allow any petitions in objection to the proposal.
