K’taka High Court stays case against Dr. Robert Rebello; issues notice to Kundapura Police

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has issued an interim stay on the criminal proceedings against Dr. Robert Rebello, the Administrative Medical Officer of Kundapura Government Hospital, following allegations of sexual harassment by a female colleague.

The single-judge bench of Justice M. Nagaprasanna, hearing Dr. Rebello’s plea to quash the FIR filed against him, issued the stay order. Notices have also been issued to the Kundapura police and the complainant, Dr. H.P. Pallavi.

The court observed prima facie that the allegations might have been filed as a retaliatory act following a notice issued to the complainant by Dr. Rebello on May 23, 2024, over alleged dereliction of duty. Further proceedings have been stayed until the next hearing.

Senior advocate Sandesh Chowta represented the petitioner in the case. The matter has been adjourned for further hearing.
