K’taka permits private hospitals to set up Covid-19 Care Centres in hotels

Karnataka health department is allowing private medical establishments to set up Covid Care Centres (CCCs) to free up beds for moderate and severe cases

Health Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey said that private hospitals registered under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) will be allowed to set up the CCCs in collaboration with hotels and lodging facilities. Also, separate permission for such hotels will not be required.

Government has capped the treatment prices in the private CCCs under three categories and their maximum charge per day is budget hotels- Rs 8,000, three-star hotels- Rs 10,000 and five star hotels- Rs 12,000.

It is said that Hotel staff should not come in touch with the Covid-19 patients and food delivery personnel and others shall serve Covid-19 positive persons in the rooms under supervision

Also, medical staff will monitor health condition of Covid-19 positive persons thrice daily
