K’taka women found murdered in a lodge at Kasaragod

Kasaragod: A woman originally from Karnataka was found murdered in a lodge of Vidyanagar, on the outskirts of the city on Thursday, December 20. A person identified as Chandra (35) accompanying the deceased woman has gone missing.

The deceased woman has been identified as Sarasu (30) and is a native of Hubli in Karnataka. Chandra, who is absconding, works in laying of interlocks in the city. oth the deceased and Chandra used to reside in the lodge at Vidyanagar since some years.

The escape

On Tuesday December 18, Chandra had returned the key of his room to the owner of the lodge saying that he is going to his home town and will be returning after two days. However, when he did not return after two days, the lodge owner tried contact him on his mobile but his mobile remained in the switched-off mode.

The finding

On Thursday morning December 20, the owner of the lodge required some tools and hence opened the room in which Chandra used to live. When he opened the door of the room to his shock he found the corpse of the woman. Immediately the lodge owner informed the same to the city police.

The investigation

The police reached the spot soon and conducted the investigation and gathered information. They also took the help of Manjula, a Kannadiga, who resides nearby the lodge to gather more information about the deceased lady as well as the absconding Chandra.

The corpse of the deceased woman has been sent to the Periyaram medical college hospital for autopsy. Fingerprint experts, dog squad and forensic experts have been pressed into service at the crime location. The police are on the lookout for the absconding accused.
