However, Kumaraswamy quashed all rumours by stating that Mr.Modi’s words of praise were only for his father Deve Gowda’s term as Prime Minister and all that it entailed. He said that being seated in the same position now, Mr. Modi simply realises what his father would have gone through in governing the country, always putting the interests of the country first.
He clarified that this has got nothing to do with any electoral alliance with the Congress or the BJP and added that his party would form a government of their own.
Kumaraswamy felt that his party has been the victim of a strategic campaign involving the Congress and the BJP, which aims to destroy the support of the minorities that his party enjoys in the State. He said that the statements made by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and the Congress President Rahul Gandhi demonstrates a fear of the support which the JD(S) commands in the State.

Kumaraswamy insisted that the JD(S) will form a government of its own in Karnataka, so the statement by Deve Gowda that he would disown his son if he went for a post-poll tie-up with the BJP is of no significance.
