Bengaluru: Bengaluru: Former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy has criticised the State government’s decision to suspend the interim holidays of teachers.

He tweeted that the government is acting illogically. Teachers of government and private schools in the State are working even during the hard times brought by COVID-19. Government school teachers have also undergone COVID duty and are working under the Vidyagama scheme to date. However, the State government is treating them badly by cancelling their interim holidays for this academic year.

“What is the basis for the government’s cancellation of the interim holiday from October 3 to 26? Are teachers day wage workers? Teachers are increasingly being used arbitrarily for other services, even when children are not attending school,” he added.

“Teachers are supposed to be accorded highest respect, however, the government’s action has made it a receiver of teachers community’s curses. The State government should immediately declare the interim holidays for teachers,” he stated.
