Lady Goschen maternity ward shifted to new building

Mangaluru: Though the new building besides Lady Goshen hospital is pending official inauguration, the maternity ward in the old building of the Lady Goshen Hospital has been shifted to the new building. The ward was shifted to the new building, since the roof of the older building had developed leaks. The 28 puerperal women have also been shifted to the new building.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Chairman M Veerappa Moily, committee members along with MRPL officials visited Lady Goschen Hospital and inspected the new building on Saturday, June 14th.

Veerappa Moily spoke to the media and said that committee was in the city to inspect the newly built Lady Goschen hospital, built with the help of MRPL’s CSR fund. “MRPL has given a grant of Rs 21.7 crore so far, along with equipment worth Rs. 1.5 crore and has agreed to provide additional equipment of Rs 5 crore,” he informed.

In response to the question on the formal inauguration of the new building, Moily replied that the inauguration of the hospital will be done subject to the availability if dates of the petroleum minister and the health minister.

“Little bit of work still needs to be completed and due to some reasons, we have shifted some wards to this new building before its inauguration,” he added.
